How to measure the right quantity for your project
Choosing materials is a creative process, but the practical step of calculating the correct quantity is just as important. With the right preparation, you'll achieve both a smoother installation and a beautiful end result. Here, we guide you step by step.
1. Start with the surface
-
Walls: Measure height × width for each wall.
-
Floors: Measure length × width.
-
Sum the areas to get the total in square meters.
Example: A wall that is 2.5 m high and 4 m wide will be 10 m². Four identical walls will therefore be 40 m².
2. Deduct openings
Do you have larger windows or doors that will not be covered? Measure and deduct these areas from the total sum.
3. Add for waste
When cutting, laying patterns, and making aesthetic selections, waste always occurs.
-
Calculate with 10-15% extra.
- 10% waste: For straight surfaces, simple laying or standard formats (10x10 cm, 15x15 cm, 20x20 cm).
-
15% waste: For complex and irregular surfaces (rooms that are not perfectly square, many corners, niches), special patterns or large formats (60x60 cm, 60x120 cm).
4. Adjust to packaging
Our tiles are sold only in full boxes. Make sure your order corresponds to the number of square meters each box covers; always round up. On each product page, you can easily enter the desired number of square meters, and the system will automatically calculate how many boxes are needed to cover the area.
5. Our best advice
-
Order all materials at the same time to avoid shade differences.
-
It's good to have an extra box at home; it can save you if a tile needs replacing later on.
-
Measure once too often rather than once too little.
Now you're on the safe side and can focus on the fun part — creating your dream project.
